Q:  Who was the most encouraging person (s)?  

 

A:  Definitely it would be hard to pinpoint one individual person who most encouraged me along the way.  Most of my work has been done in solitude, isolated from normal human interaction during the past 7 years.  I think the Apostle Paul inspired me the most along the way.  My work (like his letter to the Corinthian church) calls to change the church in ways that don't just happen with the snap of the fingers.  Apostle Paul's perseverance against all odds--and his unyielding faith that the revelations he shared was vital to the success of the early church--encouraged me to believe the revelations being shared in The Bed Keeper are equally vital to the success of the modern church.    

 

Q:  [regarding Your book]  How long was the research?

 

A:  I've studied the Bible since my early childhood, beginning as early as 11 years old, so in total, I've been studying the overall subject matter for more than 35 years.  But the revelations shared throughout The Bed Keeper came forth during a time from covering the past 8 years.

 

Q:  Which methods of research - Internet? College campus library? Or...?

 

A:  All of the above!  Today's technology and internet access certainly has sped up the process through online tools such as BibleGateWay.com, which provides more than 100 translations of the Scriptures, and in various languages.  It makes it much easier to input a key word and find every passages wherein that keyword  appears in Scripture.  I also learned much from interacting with various online message boards, like GayChristian.net and CARM.org, where I could get a variety of opinions on various topics I was studying, and while coming in contact with a variety of other topics other folks discussed that connected to my own subject material at various points.  And of course, the most powerful tool in my study arsenal is my good old "trusty dusty" Bibles at home.  I hope The Bed Keeper inspires others to fall in love with the beauty, wisdom and revelation available from Scriptures all over again!

The Princeton Rugby Guy A Review

The overall 'slice of life' that the author captures is very keen, concentrated, and interesting.

 Although the story is short, it does have a lot of substance. 

I believe the author was hoping to give insight into the gay world without the general stereotypes, and he did that splendidly.

This book is a wonderful companion for the upcoming colder months, but don't limit yourself to Autumn, Winter reading. The author has captured wonderful settings and placed them to words, accompanied with dashing images. We recommend you buy two copies, one for your summer home and one for your posh city dwelling.

I bet you have never considered that, in at least some ways, you are a lot like an onion. That's not to say that you smell or make people cry - rather, what is on the surface is not always the entire story.

Like an onion, we have numerous layers. Each layer is different, and no layer is more important than the another.

 

If the key to enjoying poetry is making a connection on the basis of interpretation, I am guessing that people will form links for all manner of different reasons.

It's autumn and the perfect time to get comfortable with a cup of tea and a charming book. We suggest adding Out of the Past to your list of reads. There are few things worse than a predictable trajectory in a book (or film); Out of the Past has some twist that brings one more level of entertainment to this romantic novel. In the author's, Jeffrey Ballam, first book he shows his talent for crafting a story. A pleasant introduction to his work. We look forward to future works by Mr. Ballam - but for now the kettle is boiling and it's time for tea and Out of the Past. 

This review is the collaboration of a three person review board: an actor, a computer nerd, a writer.

The manuscript was submitted to us, for a review,  after reading the story, I'm buying this book for my Kindle ~ the Nerd. 

I'm glad to read about a Latino lawyer, educated and romantic ~ the Actor

A Note or more

The Princeton Rugby Guy is NOW available in print and Kindle. Beautifully edited by Joel David Palmer, with added material this is a triumph for the author, David Kennedy Polanco. Very seldom (if ever) do we read of a Mexican-American character like David's HARVARD (the central character of the novella). While most authors brush on Latino characters, and/or all too often feature accent-filled, half-English, short on knowledge brown faced Latinos -- David has created an articulate, educated (think Mayor of San Antonio Julian Castro) young man of Mexican ancestry. From the book:

From his choice of language and wardrobe, Harvard was criticized by the hoodlums in his neighborhood for "trying to act white", sometimes even more than for his sexuality. At the same time, the Latinos snickered at his limited Spanish vocabulary. Just the same, Harvard carried in equal measure his American patriotism and love for his Mexican heritage.

Harvard was of Mexican ancestry and solidly grounded as an American. He could in the same breath laud the achievements of Noble Prize winner Octavio Paz and boast of his grandfather’s five medals for service during the Second World War. Although Harvard, and his parents and their families, had been born in Los Angeles, being labeled Mexican - sometimes as a derogatory, other times as a compliment...

The Princeton Rugby Guy is Mr. Polanco's first book (the premiere of a book series), some of the conversations and all of the characters are taken from his plays. David's first works were produced on the New York City stage in 1998. Since that time, the playwright (turned author) has had at least one show on the boards annually. 
The novella is filled with historical tidbits (didn't know, until reading the book, Paul Revere's grandson died in the Civil War), great works of poetry in motion, and a twist.
